GREEN IDEAS

WATER ON THE STREETS
More stalls are created in our country that provides mineral water. A single 1 peso coin can give you a full glass of mineral water. Not only is it cheap but easy to access. But do you really have an idea where the water came from?
I heard people on the streets say, there are some stores who pretend they are using mineral water, but using a different one. Although some articles say it is better to drink on tap water, because you are know the source of the water. Lately, I have been seeing on the news that distilled water is better. I certainly do agree on that. Distilled water and purified water are much safer because it undergoes different treatment and procedures.
WHAT IS DISTILLATION?
Distillation is a method of separating mixtures based on differences in their volatilities in a boiling liquid mixture. Distillation is a unit operation, or a physical separation process, and not a chemical reaction.
Commercially, distillation has a number of uses. It is used to separate crude oil into more fractions for specific uses such as transport, power generation and heating. Water is distilled to remove impurities, such as salt from seawater. Air is distilled to separate its components—notably oxygen, nitrogen, and argon—for industrial use. Distillation of fermented solutions has been used since ancient times to produce distilled beverages with higher alcohol content. The premises where distillation is carried out, especially distillation of alcohol are known as a distillery.

How? Save all the rain water with rain barrels. This way you can use the water for cleaning your car and watering the plants. Or maybe your backyard needs a glow? Sprinkle some rain water on it. Some areas in the country are drought prone, so its’s best for them to take advantage of the rain.
WHAT IS A RAIN BARREL?
A rain barrel essentially captures the rain that flows from your roof and down your gutters, collecting it in a giant barrel. The barrels have a spout at the bottom, allowing you to attach a hose and water your lawn or garden later when the ground is dry and in need of additional water. Water from the faucet has often been enhanced with fluoride, chlorine, and other additives that plants don’t need. Plants need rain water than tap waters.
By using a rain barrel you can save money and use it so many ways. During summer most homes consume a lot of water, so before the summer stars prepare your rain barrels.
