Easy Green Tips For The Rainy Season
We know that it is still summer in the USA and some other countries but on the other side of the world, the people there are already enjoying (or hating) the rainy season. Here are a couple of things you can do to help save nature’s resources during this weather condition.
- Use eco-friendly umbrellas and raincoats. Buy the ones that are made durable with less chemicals. You can probably find many of these on Etsy.com or you can check online stores like Urbanpaws, Patagonia or Bikudo.
- You don’t have to water the plants a lot when it’s always raining outside. What you can do though is to turn of the automatic sprinkler system to conserve water. You can also prepare barrels for collecting rain water, to use for your plants later. (Or to use for something else). Make sure to cover these barrels to prevent diseases (mosquitoes love to hatch on still water).
- Keep your garbage area properly closed off, sealed or disposed. Rain brings a bit of flooding in some areas. If you aren’t careful with your garbage, it may wash away in with it and that’s not a nice thing to have, of course.
- Spend rainy days and nights at home with your family. Do relaxing activities together like watching your Planet Earth DVD.
- Invite few friends over for a little get together and serve green treats or prepare these together.
- Play in the rain. This is the best thing you can do for yourself when trying to find ways to enjoy the gift of rain. It brings your childhood back, doesn’t it?
