UK’s Eco Village Will Have Zero Carbon

hanhamlead The Hanham Hall Development is an ambitious project in the United Kingdom which aims to build the largest eco-village in the world (to date). The project is by Barrat Developments and the Homes and Community Agency and has been rumored to be a zero carbon housing development scheme.

The eco-village will have everything mapped out and streamlined in zones, which will include a strategical place for goods selling, a bicycle storage area, a well-planned drainage system and an biomass CHP plant.

Houses developed should be free of VOC’s and SIPS panels will be used as the main structure element, thus promoting a healthy lifestyle as well as energy efficient materials.

This project is part of the Carbon Challenge Program  and is expected to complete by 2010.
