Global warming cuts on the rise

On wednesday in L’AQUILA, Italy president of the United States Barack Obama and other leaders of the richest industrial countries vowed to seek dramatic cuts in greenhouse gas emissions to slow down the dangerous climate change. In a positive move they all agreed that world temperatures must not rise more than a few degrees and urgent action was needed so the cuts where therefore agreed by all. The decision seemed to go down well as  British Prime Minister Gordon Brown called the group’s statement a “historic agreement and German Chancellor Angela Merkel said it was “a clear step forward”.

It will take some time to reach our goal but most environmental groups agree that it is an important and positive step forward. However on the downside most developing countries are thinking that the wealthier nations are not doing enough in the short term also worrying that major reduction commitments on their part would slow down economic growth in places like such as Brazil, China, India and Mexico who are not any part of the G8 summit.  There are many ups and downs to this decision.

The wealthier countries really need to tackle a decision globally and however people may see it the time has long passed for short term action, global warming is a dangerous issue that is effecting the whole world, farmers worldwide are noticing the changes in climate for there crops, some countries seem to skip seasons all together and remain just summer or winter all year around, this is very negative. Whatever the outcome is for this decision by Obama the other G8 Summit members lets hope it works out in a positive way, to find out more about the G8 summit go here
