Even Xena’s Going Green!!
Lucy Lawless star of the popular cult series Xena Warrior Princess has joined onto the new Greenpeace Sign on climate campaign. The campaign is aiming to generate support in order to convince New Zealand’s Prime Minister, John Key, to sign on to a 40 percent emission reduction target by 2020 at the UN climate talks in Copenhagen in December. Lucy said “I’m signing on because there’s no Planet B,”, ”There’s nowhere else for our kids and grandchildren to go. We need to get on with the business of tackling climate change.“ Wise words by the former warrior princess herself.
Keisha Castle Hughes and Rhys Darby are just some of the other big names joining Lucy in this global warming fight campaign. The latest official word makes it clear that to avert catastrophic climate change will require developed countries like New Zealand to adopt a 40 per cent reduction target by 2020 on 1990′s emission levels.
New Zealand is one of the last remaining developed countries without a target making this campaign all the more important to be achieved and quickly, the word really has to be spread and the bigger names that are involved the more it seems to pull in people who want to help. Our climate is changing rapidly is has been proven in statistics, movies and news, it is good to know that so many people are willing to do their part to try and stop global warming and the ever increasing climate change that effects us all.
