Samsung’s Green Phone: Reclaim

The Reclaim is the latest among Samsung’s cellphone units. In line with Sprint, the mobile company, this phone will be launched in the market very soon. The phone is supposedly featured with eco-friendly facets.
Forty percent of its casing is said to be made of corn-based plastic material, which means that it is free of phthalates, polyvinyl chloride and
brominated flame retardants. These elements have high level of toxicity, and with the new cellphone devoid of this, it supposedly becomes one “green” mobile unit. The phone is also built with a charger that lights up, indicating that the battery is fully charged, so you don’t have to over plug it and use up energy. And these are the only two features that supposedly makes it “environment friendly”.
There is no printed manual for The Reclaim. If a consumer needs one, it has to be downloaded online. For every sale made of the phone, Sprint will also be donating $2 per sale to the Nature Conservancy’s Adopt an Acre Program.
So far, it fails to really impress as a green phone, given that there really isn’t much improvements, apart from the casing and the battery light indicator. Yet, it’s a better choice compared to the early released green phones out there from other brands. So then, it’s still a pretty good news. It means the mobile industry is on their way of coming up with a product that should be deemed real eco-friendly very soon.
