Back To School the Eco-Friendly Way
Schools across the United States are gearing up for another school year. Some classes have already started, while others are following suit in the next few weeks. Why not do something differently this year and strive to be green? Here are some eco-friendly tips to prepare your kids for the school year.
1. When buying school bags, go for those that are made of cotton or organic material. Or look for the recycled ones. There are plenty of styles and designs available, your kids and teenagers will love it. Avoid buying anything made of PVC or vinyl and other materials that may be toxic, especially to the little kids.
2. Textbooks need to be covered to protect them as these will be used the whole year. But instead of plastic covers, why not be creative and use recycled paper or newspaper? If you have gift wrapping papers you haven’t used in years, you could use these to wrap the textbooks, too. You save on money because you don’t have to buy new covers. Even better, do this together with your children and make back to school a fun experience for them.
3. Make sure to pack the kids lunch using reusable and washable utensils. There’s also plenty of lunch bags available at stores online and at the mall that not only carry really lovely designs but are also earth-friendly.
4. Stock on paper instead of buying those in 100 piece a pack. Wholesale items save you a lot more money, time, and wastage.
