Hangbags from Recycled Materials
Subway maps were created to help you find your way through different routes. Like everyone subways were merely for directions. But have your ever thought of recycling them and creating a purse, bag or a napkin holder? I cam across this brilliant idea and made me realized how important recycling is.
From their website:
“You won’t feel so lost when you find yourself with the NY MTA Subway Map handbag collection. Specially made from recycled and repurposed subway maps, which are then coated in cellophane. Don’t leave home without one.”
Created from recycled NYC subway maps, these bags from ecoist can bring eco-friendly order into your life. Perfect for holding change or your keys, and looking so very stylish …I just wouldn’t plan on them telling you how to get from 42nd street to Wall Street!
They have a few different sizes and shapes to choose from $22.00 to $48.00 at Ecoist.
They have placemats and napkin rings as well that will bring a wonderful urban vibe to your home in addition to being perfectly earth friendly.
$15.00 for napkin rings or $38.00 for placemats at Ecoist.
Other products include Coca cola handbags and newspapers.
Ecoist and The Coca-Cola Company have partnered to repurpose misprinted and waste-bound bottle labels. These classic, limited edition, handcrafted purses are made by a fair trade women’s cooperative in Peru.”
Made from repurposed newspapers and ”coated” with biodegradable cellophane, the Newspaper Collection is perfect for the Ecoist who wants color in the mix, but not too many brights. Pair it with some jeans and you’re all set.”
Always think twice before throwing your old newspapers and subway maps and even your coke cans.
