college dormFor most university students this September, it’s back to school, back to the dormitory.

Achieve these simple tips on how to make your dorm room one of the safest, healthiest eco-friendly rooms in the building:

It isn’t necessary to buy new furniture, bring one from home as a form of recycling. Use items that do not off gas, especially in rooms that aren’t really well-ventilated. Use cotton or organic bedding.

Bed bugs is the #1 problem in dorm rooms. Make sure to keep this unwanted pest before you move in. Check the room thoroughly and get adequate information about bed bugs.

Use simple cleaning products when fixing up and maintaining cleanliness in your room. They’re not only good for the environment, they are cheaper too. Vinegar, water, baking soda and lemon are your best defense against dirt, dust, grimes and all that icky stuff. Also, use natural spices and products for keeping the room smelling clean (like coffee and vanilla oil found in your mom’s kitchen).

Conserve on energy. Make sure that any electrical appliance is properly turned off when not in use. Besides, it’s also a safe way to prevent fires and other accidents from happening. Try and reduce paper wastage, too.
