A Temple Made From Trash
Our trashes can be used to create a lot of things. Just like recycling it could lessen the amount of landfills. Other people who do not really pay attention to the environment tends to throw their trash anywhere. Today, a very unique creation has been made to save our planet and recycle trash and plastics.

A temporary yet inspiring structure is what Salzig Design is creating as part of the 2007 Follydock Festival, the Trash Temple. Made from 100 tons of pet bottles that are pressed into bales, this green structure is built in Rotterdam, Netherlands. This one of a kind structure may not be erected already but the inspiration of building structures that make use of the possible harm to the environment we produce each day particularly the plastic bottles is still there and influenced many future and present designers and architects. Various green projects are already created following the trash temple including the watershed, plastic boat, and the recycled bottle greenhouse.
We generate so much trash on a daily basis that it wouldn’t be surprising if future generations mistakenly thought that we actually worshipped all the garbage we toss into landfills. That’s the idea behind Salzig Design’s Temple of Trash, a temporary structure built in a Rotterdam, Netherlands port area as part of the 2007 Follydock Festival. The waste-filled walls of the temple are constructed 100 tons of PET bottles pressed into bales!
While the temple is no longer standing, the trend of up cycling plastic bottles that inspired the construction shows no signs of slowing down. Other recent examples of PET bottle creativity include the “Watershed†plastic bottle installation, the Plastiki boat, and this recycled bottle greenhouse. As plastic bottle use continues to grow around the world, don’t be surprised if PET bottle structures become increasingly commonplace.
I have never seen a beautiful way to make our trash and old containers to be of such view. The temple keeps everyone updated and inspired to go green.
