Green Living is a Family Affair
Of course, this is a given and we already know this. If we want change, if we want a better life, we must start green living at home. Here are easy ways to encourage and orient every member of your family to practice living a cleaner, healthier life. It’s these simple things that will help young ones grow into better, responsible citizens of the Earth.:
- Make outdoor activities fun and regular. Organize bike trips once in a while. Go jogging together and include the kids. Walk around the village as a family unit. Plan to go camping or see the outdoors when permissible.
- Bring your kids to the market. This trip is not only a welcome change for them, it’s also very educational. This is best done in the summer when crops abound. Teach them what those different produce are and where they are typically grown. Market shopping also saves you a lot of money as prices tend to be cheaper than in the grocery store.
- Grow a garden together. This can be really fun to do with the kids. You don’t have to dream big, just start, perhaps on tiny little pots in the backyard and then you can grow things from there. This can be a weekly activity. Growing your own produce also helps with the $.
Teach your children how to recycle. Or donate the stuff they do not need anymore. Bring them along when you do drop off these items so that they know where this will go and for what good their deeds go to.
Teach your children to conserve energy, such as not wasting water when brushing teeth or taking a bath.
