Vinegar: The Most Basic and Green Cleaning Agent
Where does one start with all these “going green” stuff? How do others make this kind of lifestyle so easy? Like many people, the challenge to go green can get a little overwhelming. Especially with the market teeming with all kinds of organic and green products, where to start living green may get confusing.
The strategy, perhaps, is to just step back a little and make the objectives clear. And for this, the main objective must be — To take a cleaner, less wasteful, more economical lifestyle.
“Cleaner”, that’s the key word. Going green starts with cleaning up your environment. But don’t go running towards the grocery shelf finding the best cleaning agent. You’ve got the most basic, greenest solution right there at your home so you need not look very far.
For years, I’ve been made aware about how powerful a cleaning agent vinegar is (alright, vinegar mixed with water). And I got to try this out myself early this morning, as I was cleaning up the mess my dogs left, having been cooped inside our house for days since it’s been raining so heavily outside. I used the vinegar and water solution, kept in a very convenient spray bottle, to clean up the hard floor where the dogs left their mark. And you know what? I’ve tried everything else, but this one works the best. Next, I use the same solution to clean my kitchen counter tops. I’ve been very satisfied with the results, and am kicking myself for not trying this out as soon as I learned of it! I hear that this solution makes a really good cleaning agent for the window’s glass, too. I am going to give that a try later today.
Using vinegar and water also benefits the wallet, I should say. This solution is so very affordable especially when compared to the other chemicals found at the grocery store.
How’s that for going green?
