An eco-supermarket surprise
New Zealand has long been a country in praise of its Eco standards well now there is one more to be added to the list with a brand new Ec0-supermarket opening up near Christchurch. In todays modern times most people spend half their life at home and the other in work, in between all this people devote ours of time to grocery shopping in supermarkets so this simple prospect is really long overdue.Â
The supermarket has only opened and is already receiving very positive reviews from customers who enjoyed the overall atmosphere and ambience while doing their weekly shop. On the outside of this new market you will find two 10 meter tall wind turbines which generates power to keep all the lights on, impressive and most of all energy efficient.
Rainwater that falls onto and from the roof irrigates the garden and there are even compostable  cornstarch containers for food. Even the fridges are all build with recyclable parts, the back of the unit is hot which is mainly what they use for heating their hot water. Customers raved about the positive experience they had walking through the aisles underneath lights that were powered by wind, its a very new and fun way to do your shopping.
However making the change to Eco does not come lightly, the cost to produce al this came with a larger tag than normal, but everyone involved is pleased with the change and they are already having free power so it will work out. One of the best facts of all is that the overall carbon saved by doing this project is the actual equivalent of planting over 2000 pine trees, with all this Green living lets hope more large supermarket chains make the change.
