Easy Green Halloween Costumes

PirateKidsCostume_25_3909At this time, if you have noticed, many stores have already put up displays and sales of their Halloween items and costumes. And yes, they look really cute! It’s tempting to get a set for your little four year old. The costumes come complete with everything, it’s actually so convenient to buy one. But the thing is, these items costs a lot, when we all should be saving and spending less. It’s impractical to buy them now, especially when your kids would not want to wear them next year anymore.

Here’s a quick solution that is  almost as convenient as buying one from the store. But it’s definitely a lot more money-saving — why not look into your son or daughter’s cabinet and see what you can make use there?

For instance…A pirate costume? Look for a stripe shirt, a vest and jeans. Make an eye-patch out of felt paper or if you aren’t crafty, this is probably the only thing you have to spend on. Hooks and swords can be made using foil and school materials.

Your daughter wants to dress up as a princess? Make her wear her favorite dress but add layers of gauzy material. Put sparkles or glitters in her hair and create her handmade tiara out of cardboard and foil.

Or better yet, your kids and you can do all these props together before the big night of Treat or Treatin’.

You don’t really have to be a Martha Stewart while making all these costumes. It’s actually the imperfections that make it even more memorable to wear.

Enjoy Halloween!
