ThredUP: Swap Clothes Online

Screen shot 2009-10-30 at 4.36.52 PM I don’t know anybody who doesn’t have clothes they don’t actually need in their closet. We all have clothes that just sit there, waiting to be in season or be worn again. Sometimes, that never happens and the clothes sit there for years. Giving them away is an act of goodwill, but there’s another alternative to this with….and it looks even easier with this site called ThredUp.

ThredUP is a clothes swapping website that allows you to unload clothes you no longer use in exchange for clothes you may like to own. You need to only provide the site of the details of the items you want for exchange, and ThredUP will take care of looking for its new owners for you.  For every item you send their way, you’re entitled an item in exchange for that, which we think is a pretty good idea. Someone’s trash is indeed someone else’s treasure.

ThredUp sends you envelope in which to store these clothes in. These are pre-paid envelopes cost $25 per three items. Now, if you send an item that is damaged or torn and you fail to declare this, the people running ThredUp would be very quick to also deduct your privileges in availing of their services. It’s a pretty coordinated, tightly managed ship, I must say.

What this site does is effectively manages unloading unused items for you, and limits the time you have to go to the post office to send it.

This services is very much suggested for kids clothes that children easily outgrow, or maybe maternity clothes that don’t often get worn.

For more on this, visit ThredUp.
