The Unicef Snowflake

UNICEF has saved more lives than any other humanitarian organization, a lifesaving organization that operates in over 150 countries. It is of course no surprise how successful the UNICEF Lighting Snowflake Ceremony was over the weekend. Lucy Liu a longtime supporter and actress was there to illuminate the snowflake and begin special ceremony which took place on Thursday November 19th in NYC.

Appointed a UNICEF ambassador back in 2004 Lucy has used her status in many positive ways, including traveling around the world to witness the life saving work carried out by the amazing UNICEF. This year marked the 25th anniversary of the Snowlflake making it a very special time.

It was all broadcast live where viewers and attenders where treated to a festival recital by a Broadway kids care, following that performance Liu, Carly Stern, Daniel Lalonde, took to the stage and flipped the infamous switch. “As a native New Yorker I always look forward to seeing the UNICEF Snowflake light up fifth avenue, it reminds me that everyday there are 24,000 children worldwide dying from preventable causes. I am especially proud to support UNICEF and their commitment to change that number to zero. ” Spoke Lucy Liu about the event.
