Eco-Friendly Ways to Wrap Your Christmas Presents
Are you all done wrapping your Christmas presents? If not, before you head out the door to purchase Christmas wrappers, it may be a better idea to look around your house first and see what else you can use for wrappings. Half the fun of giving presents is in the creative ways you put the items in their packages. And the less carbon footprint you waste doing this, the better it is for Mother Earth.
Here are some alternative ways to wrap your Christmas gifts, instead of buying new batches of wrappers. Think of this as your gift to the earth:
1. Use fabric instead of paper. With fabrics, there’s no waste, no scraps of paper to sweep or clean up after. And it may still be re-used later on. Check fabric stores for really cheap bundle deals on scarves and big handkerchiefs. Check thrift stores and discount stores too.
2. Use old calendars. Use the ones with especially colorful prints. After all, you no longer need them. Rather than throwing those away, they would still have better use as gift wrappers. Just accentuate the gifts with bows and glitters then you’re good to go.
3. Wrap gifts in old jars and cans. It’s not only very innovative, it’s also a great way to recycle these. Decorate the jars with ribbons, recycled papers and other crafty items for a more personalized container.
4. Newspapers and paper bags. Using these doesn’t say you’re cheap but conscientous and creative. Jazz the wrappers up with crayons, for example. Make a good and responsible impression on those you’re giving gifts to.
