Green Travel Tips For The Holidays
With the upcoming long holidays, a lot of families are preparing to travel across the country and be reunited with families for the celebration. It’s great to be doing this…but do keep in mind the following green traveling tips, before you hop into your car and drive away:
Make sure that everything is all ready and set before you start the engine. It would be a hassle to keep on coming back to the house if you keep forgetting to check the ovens, lock the door, bring your laptop, and so on. It would also be harmful to the environment if you keep your car idling or you switch your engine on and off very often. Prepare a list of things to bring and make sure you have everything.
Days before your road trip, make sure that your car has been checked. This is best for your safety, for one thing. It is also best for the environment. You wouldn’t want you car to be contributing to the world’s pollution, right? Check for oil leaks, tires, battery and engine problems. If there is one, have it fixed before the trip.
While on the road, ask yourself if it’s still necessary to use air conditioning. Maybe the fresh air will do you more good. So, roll down the windows once in a while and enjoy it!
If you are going with family, it might be a great idea to carpool in one big van, instead of bringing cars per family. Plus, it would be great start to enjoying the trip this season!
Have a safe trip this holidays!
