Gaia Guru says: Too Late To Save Planet Earth

According to Professor James Lovelock, the earth is a single organism that evolves in itself. Everything that is happening to it is part of that evolution, including climate change. Because this is what he believes, the now famous Gaia Theory, he says that the only way to “heal” the earth is to let itself take care of its own completely. This is to say that, no matter what we do conserve its resources or use sustainable materials and recycle, we still can’t do anything when it wishes to be destructive.

He says: “We’re not really guilty. We didn’t deliberately set out to heat the world. The world doesn’t change its climate conveniently.”

Additionally, he believes that using renewable energy, one which many scientists are pushing, is essentially promoting good business sense, but not “good practical engineering”.

He further says that — “Trying to save the planet ‘is a lot of nonsense”.

Professor Lovelock is 90 years old. Not a lot of people believe in his Gaia Theory though, but you be the judge and see if this actually make sense to you:

The Gaia Theory posits that the organic and inorganic components of Planet Earth have evolved together as a single living, self-regulating system. It suggests that this living system has automatically controlled global temperature, atmospheric content, ocean salinity, and other factors, that maintains its own habitability. In a phrase, “life maintains conditions suitable for its own survival.” In this respect, the living system of Earth can be thought of analogous to the workings of any individual organism that regulates body temperature, blood salinity, etc. So, for instance, even though the luminosity of the sun – the Earth’s heat source – has increased by about 30 percent since life began almost four billion years ago, the living system has reacted as a whole to maintain temperatures at levels suitable for life.

The Gaia theory was developed in the late 1960’s by Dr. James Lovelock, a British Scientist and inventor, shortly after his work with NASA in determining that there was probably no life on Mars. — Source
