Lazy Dog Cafes Introduce “ECO TO-GO” Program for Earth Day

Lazy Dog offers a new ECO TO-GO program just in time for Earth Day on April 22. This is part of their “Live Green” initiative which aims to save hundreds of pounds of waste each year thus reducing the carbon footprint of all participants. Owner Chris Simms said that all 6 Southern California restaurants as well as those under construction will be involved in the program that aims to introduce environmentally friendly and sustainable practices to both employees and guests of the restaurants.
Simms says that the campaign will be introduced in multiple areas of operations such as take out, retail, the kids menu, promotions, restaurant design and equipment, menu items and the use of paper products. For instance, guests will be encouraged to simply say the words “Eco To-Go” when placing to-go orders and the excess paper napkins, plastic utensils, sauces and other supplies will automatically not be included. This step alone will help save countless trees that are being cut down each year to produce the raw materials while reducing the amount of petroleum used to produce plastic. Simms also said that the campaign will be promoted within all restaurants and a social media campaign will help get the word out.
Lazy Dog’s “Eco-To-Go” concept is phase one of their new “Live Green” initiative, which aims to introduce environmentally friendly & sustainable practices in the restaurants. Up next, Lazy Dog Cafes will introduce other eco-friendly lifestyle practices to create a greater awareness of what we can do to help Mother Earth.
