Marks & Spencer go Eco

It is about time that a big retailer from the UK joined the Eco crowd and now Marks & Spencer has finally stood up and began to make a very positive change. This big change comes in the form of their large collection of wine bottles. Normally made from glass this kind of material can cause havoc to the earth’s atmosphere once it is discarded. Now though that will all be over as their entire chain of 25cl wine bottles will be changed from glass to environmentally friendly polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

Marks & Spencer is one of the most popular retailers in the UK, their wine sales alone are very high so this is quite a good move forward today for the planet and their business. It is a well known fact that the moment a company expresses an interest in going Eco people start to show a greater interest and sales start to rise. This will certainly be the case for M&S.

The small bottles are going to be at least 88 percent lighter than the normal glass ones, they also use less energy to manufacture which is always a big plus for our planet. The size of these bottles and the work gone into their process is all about reducing harmful emissions so M&S have really headed into a positive direction where results should soon start to show. The new selection should start to appear on shelves shortly and will hopefully be followed by similar selections from different retailers. Lets go ECO!
