The green competition

There is nothing more interesting and appealing than regular people sharing some Eco-Tips for your day to day life. In Taiwan over the weekend that is exactly what happened. Hundreds of foreigners and locals got together and described in great detail ways in which you can live an Eco-Friendly life. A lot of excellent tips where shared and people really got into the spirit, leaving with a positive attitude and a lot of new found knowledge to pass on to others and help spread the word.

All this Eco fact sharing was done for a competition with the price being a large NT$30,000 (US$933). Over 40 contestants from 17 nations took part and educated people in their own special way. Some of the wise tips suggested included ” If everyone stopped their engines for 30 seconds, we would contribute a lot to the environment”. Very clever suggestion from a Japanese student.

The main factor which most of the students pushed on was the issue of carbon footprints and what we can do as individuals to reduce our own. Automobiles tend to release a lot of toxic fuels and other hazards into the atmosphere. If more people where to actually switch of their engines from time to time or simply walk and leave the car at home we would all feel the benefits, but especially our planet.

Alper Guder from Turkey was the big prize winner. He even came to the event fitted in a shirt which was decorated with a poster of the earth on it.
