First Solar Energy Plane Lands Successfully

It has been a great day for Eco-Friendly airline news. The worlds very first Plane which works on solar energy successfully landed after a 24 hour flight. The special jet names Solar Impulse took of yesterday at 6am from Switzerland and officially completed the big journey today at 9.00.

This airplane is the first of its kind and hopes are high that planes which fly around the world are soon to follow. The aircraft flew through the night propelled by sunlight powered lithium batteries and 12,000 solar cells. No journey like this has ever been attempted before.

The solar energy airplane is said to weight as much as a medium sized car. That is quite a big difference compared to similar models. It goes to show the more solar energy used, the safer, and lighter the end device will be.

The pilot was Andre Borschberg who hopes that Solar Impulse will next fly across the Atlantic, quickly following with a trip around the world in 2013. This is really an incredible day for air travel. Millions of planes fly all across the world everyday of the year. The amount of pollution and energy wasted is substantial. Finally now a new way of traveling without leaving behind carbon footprints is here.

For now the future looks bright and clean up in the skies. Lets hope the next mission of Solar Impulse is just as successfully and finally we will see a change in the air travel for the better. If every journey was like the results would be incredible.
