Camping With Kids the Eco-Way

During the summer months it is important as a parent to try and make the outdoors appealing to children. Don’t let them spend countless hours in front of the TV and playing video games. Not only are they both bad activities for the environment, due to the amount of energy wasted, but also it is unhealthy. Now, there is a way you can help them become interested in nature. The McCulloch House Museum in Pictou is organizing some very fun Eco-Friendly Day Camps for children.

The many fun activities and games involved will also be including quite an Eco-Theme. For example, planting gardens will be one of the main environment related tasks. The kids will be able to have fun, while learning an important lesson about nature, and even how they can help and become responsible adults.

The majority of the games and events will be focused on re-using items. This is a very clever way to spread around the knowledge of recycling and not simply tossing out items. Children will find out that many items can be re-used and in fun ways!

If you have some time to spare, and feel that your children could benefit from an Eco Day Camp then come on down to the McCulloch House Museum. The next available camp will be happening in August from the dates of the 9-13. The hours will be 10am – 4pm.  All children from the ages of 7-12 can participate.
