NYPD Blues Go Green
New York City’s finest are rolling on the streets and patrolling using hybrid cars. The force recently unveiled their latest acquisitions last Wednesday, in the form of Ford Fusion hybrid eco-friendly vehicles, and may soon replace the Chevy Impalas that police use. These Ford cars account for 102 total. The NYPD also have Nissan Altima hybrids in the units .
The Mayor of New York City says the plan to use hybrid cars is part of a long-term project that will help reduce the city’s carbon foot print by the year 2017 to 30% .
