Centrosolar Establishes UK Subsidiary

- Sonnenstromfabrik Obtains Certification for UK Market

PR Newswire — September 2, 2010

HAMBURG, September 2, 2010 /PRNewswire/ — Centrosolar has established an international subsidiary in the UK. Following the introduction of attractive feed-in tariffs in April, Centrosolar UK Ltd. will be in a position to respond to increased demand for photovoltaic systems particularly in England. Centrosolar is pleased to have been able to recruit an experienced solar specialist with an excellent knowledge of the market to run the British subsidiary.

Centrosolar continues with its drive for international expansion: in establishing the new UK subsidiary, the company has now set up its ninth branch outside Germany. The UK branch will be based near London and will be run by Simon Gerrard. 33-year-old Gerrard has been working in the solar industry for seven years, latterly as head of Domestic Sales for one of the leading British solar companies.

Now that attractive feed-in tariffs are available in the UK, Centrosolar detects increased potential for photovoltaic systems on private houses and commercial roofs. Alongside its integrated packages comprising crystalline high-performance modules and all the components that are needed to operate a system, it supplies lighter thin-film systems that are especially suitable for roofs with low load reserves. Gerrard and his team are able to tap into an existing network of sales partners covering the wholesale, installation and social housing sectors, which is to be further expanded.

In the crystalline segment, Centrosolar uses exclusively solar modules manufactured at the group’s own Sonnenstromfabrik plant in Wismar, Germany. Centrosolar has already applied for certification under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), which is vital for business in the UK, and it passed the required inspection of production operations at the end of August.
