Spice Rocks!
A lot of the spices we add to food have medicinal properties in them. Folks from the old days actually make use of these to cure a lot of common ailments and some serious diseases.
Below is a list of herbs that we normally use in food everyday with their corresponding medicinal benefits. This is, of course, not meant to replace actual medicines your doctor will prescribe to you. But in hoping to live a healthier life, knowing the benefits of these herbs should have some impact in the way you eat or see to your diet.
BASIL
This helps with flu and common colds. Boil this in water for a nice warm tea before going to bed, and it will relieve your headache or actually help you get some good sleep.
CELERY
This stalky greens are known to help with hypertension and the seeds of it can actually be boiled to make tea, which acts as a cleanser for the body.
CINNAMON
The cinnamon has so many benefits. It relieves diarrhea and colds. It helps with indigestion. Some studies also say it helps reduce the effect of other cancer causing additives we also eat with our food. Simmering sticks of this wiht honey, lemon juice and cloves acts as a cold medication.
PEPPERMINT
Calming and soothing, a cup of peppermint tea helps with the nerves. It’s also great for heartburn as well as mild stomaches.
PARSLEY
This is a known purifier and is said to help with bad breath or halitosis. It also relieves you of painful urination, if drank as a tea.
