Preparing For New Year’s Eve
Christmas has come and gone. With spirits still high however now is the perfect time to plan for the biggest party night of the year on new years eve. As family and friends gather around to say goodbye to 2010 make it extra special by preparing an Eco Friendly event for all your guests!

Before planning dishes to serve think about the venue. To keep your daily carbon footprints down it would be recommendable to hold the party in your home. No excess travel will be involved, and hopefully your guests will be close by. Hiring out a big hall or room is just an expensive waste with a lot to clean up afterwards. Minimizing waste is essential to a successful night.
Avoid invitations and call or email for responses. Paper plates, cups, plastic knives and forks should also be avoided. They are difficult to recycle and harmful for the environment. The better option would be glasses, proper cutlery and plates. Once they have been used all they need is some cleaning.
Organic finger foods, crisps and some healthy sandwiches are ideal snacks for a new years party. Try to stay away from foods that just end up with excess waste. Fruits are also a good option. In terms of drinks there are lots of organic wines and beers currently available so stock up and welcome the new year the best way. For non drinkers try some fruit juices and smoothies that are always a popular choice at parties. Be sure to stock up on fruits!
