How To Help Japan

Japan lost over 10,000 lives and $180 Billion worth of structures when the 8.9-magnitude earthquake and tsunami destroyed the northern part of the country last March 11. All over the world, people are extending help and you can also do your part in this global endeavor. There are plenty of ways and we’ve sum up just some of the things you can do to help heal Japan:

1. Refer to your local Red Cross chapter for this or go online and send your donations directly. Japan Red Cross has made it easier, and you can make your pledges to three known charities that will make sure your help gets to Japan. You can check for details on this site.

2. Don’t forget that there are also animals in need of help. The World Vets are specifically going to Japan to focus on helping dogs, cats and other pets or animals that have also been victims of this tragedy. If you want to send your donations, check with World Vets Facebook page for details (Search: World Vets).

3. The American Red Cross also has a Facebook page where you can send in your donations (Check here). There are several other institutions on Facebook and Twitter, big or small, that have come up with their own ways to organize fund raising efforts for Japan. Using social media for this endeavor is really good.

4. Other people are donating their time to spread awareness campaign and update people on what is happening in Japan and who might need more help. You can do the same each time you use your Twitter or Facebook accounts to communicate with friends.
