Keep Cool Even Without The Airconditioning
It’s unavoidable to turn the airconditioning on during the Summer season. When the weather is too hot, you want to be indoors most of the time and have the unit blasting, so you can function and move about comfortably.
The problem, however, is that the electric bill can skyrocket at this point. And the more you use electricity to keep yourself cool, the more the carbon emissions it is causing.
If you can help not putting the airconditioning on to save on expenses as well as minimize burning of energy, you can probably do the following tips:
1. Drink lots and lots of water, preferably cold water. You need to really hydrate a lot when the heat is unbearable or you may end up collapsing from a heat stroke. You can also use ice to cool yourself by wrapping this in cloth which you can use to rub on your face, arms or legs. There are studies that prove this to be effective as the ice lowers your body temperature, thus you don’t feel as hot as much.
2. Stay indoors or in the shade. Also, resist the urge to do physical activities during times when it’s really hot. Instead, read a book or just do something that doesn’t require you to move around a lot. This way, your body isn’t burning too much energy causing you to break a sweat. If you have to do exercises, do so at night when it’s a bit cooler.
3. Wear comfortable clothes that allow your skin to breath. Use the electric fan often than the airconditioning. Keep some lights off, as more lights will contribute to the heat energy making the room your staying even hotter.
Doing all these will help reduce the discomfort you are feeling, as well as minimize the waste you contribute to the earth.
