Al Gore Debuts the “Our Choice” iPad App
Al Gore is really serious about educating us on what we can do for the earth. After the success of An Inconvenient Truth, he is now launching a multimedia tool called Our Choice. This is playable in any Mac device and it’s actually a digital book containing photos and interactive graphics. Users of this application can purchase this for $4.99 and the proceeds of it will help fund the Alliance for Climate Protection.
Here is what Al Gore says about why this application was created:
Well, you will recall that An Inconvenient Truth was both a book and a movie. I learned in that experience that the two platforms reinforced one another. As we were finishing production of the book version of Our Choice, the app universe was exploding. We asked ourselves, could this become an app? We then set about the task of reimagining the book on the iPad/iPhone/iPod touch platform. The main motivation was to exploit the nearly magical properties of this new form of publishing, the app, to give people a chance to interact with the content and explore it at their own pace and according to their own desires.
The application offers a lot of interactive activities that even the kids will probably like and learn from. Al Gore says some of it’s best features include the passive solar house because “it makes it easy to understand the way architecture can interact with the environment and save you money and reduce emissions.”
This application can be used on the iPad and iPhone as well as a Mac computer.
