Greening Your Way To A Pest Free House
Pests can be icky and nasty. They can also carry diseases or cause health disorders you should be wary of. There are many ways to get rid of these pests especially since countless of insecticides and pesticides are sold in the supermarket for this purpose. But while this can be helpful, these pesticides may also be detrimental to health and the environment.
Fortunately, there’s an alternative to harmful and chemically laden pesticides. Here are a few tips you can do to greening your way to a pest free house:
1. ANTS. A colony of ants can be removed using a simple neem seed oil and coconut oil solution. Mix about a spoonful of this each to water and put it in a spray bottle and use this where you see an ant trail. This mixture helps in preventing ants from reproducing.
2. FLEAS. Using lemon and water, spray areas you think are breeding grounds for flees. I’ve read that lemon juice is an effective deterrent. If you want, you can actually rub the surface with pure lemon and just rinse it off with water. You can also use the same spray for your pets, to prevent them from having flees. In cloths or fabric, sprinkle baking soda and salt before vacuuming them away. Not only does this prevent fleas but also keeps your carpet or sofa seaters smelling fresh.
3. COCKROACHES. The nastiest of pest, and the deadliest too as it comes with diseases, you can get rid of cockroaches the natural way by using diatomaceous earth and putting this in cracked surfaces and crevices. Just be careful that dogs and children don’t reach it or play with it.
