Green Rental Car Choices
Are you planning a road trip this summer and taking a rental car with you? It would probably please you to know that many major rental car shops now offer hybrid cars in their line-up. Consumers are demanding it and the choices today have never been this varied. It’s actually quite good because if you won’t have to spend a lot for fuel or gas money on your vacation. It’s also a good way to test a hybrid car, especially if you are considering buying one soon.
Here is a list of hybrid cars you can find at many major rental car shoppes:
1. Nissan Leaf
This is the most popular hybrid car I know and it’s available from Hertz or Enterprise car companies in selected US sites. The Nissan Leaf is all-electric and can cover a short trip, if there is no public charging sites. The car can run 5 miles for every hour of charging, which by the way, can be done in a usual household outlet. The outlet must be three-prong. For higher voltage charging, the car can drive up to 15 miles per hour or charging.
2. Toyota Prius
This car is widely available in many rental shops so you will definitely be able to use this one for your trips. Toyota has released a plug-in version of the car, so make sure to ask this if they already have it in the rental shops, so as not to hassle you with needing to find a public charging area.
If you these two cars are not available at the rental shop, you can ask the manager for a different green car instead and make sure to also know where the possible charging areas are on the road where you plan to drive.
