A lot of people are guilty about overcrowding their closet. We are all born hoarders, whether we admit it or not. It’s very common in both men and women. It’s even common among people who try their best to live green and economize.
Stocking up on items seem second nature to all of us. Sometimes, we hoard out of necessity. We buy stuff to update the things we need, hence our closet space gets filled up. We can imagine people in other parts of the world, where there are four seasons in a year, amass even more items since there is a need for different kinds of clothes and stuff that go with the right season.
So, what should you do when you notice your closet space suddenly lacking in space because there’s just too many items in it? You start editing your items and do away with stuff you have not used for a while. Doing this on rotation will allow your closet a lot of breathing room. Some people say, decluttering can also be therapeutic.
Usually, it’s better to do this right before the end of each season, sort of like a fresh start each time a new season begins. Go through all the items in your closet and take out the ones that you can either 1) donate to thrift stores, charity or relatives, or 2) recycle to use as something else for the house. After going though your pile, you may want to plan a garage sale or a swap party and encourage your neighbors to join you in this endeavor.
