Updating Your Bedroom Without Wasting Resources

Screen Shot 2013-08-28 at 3.27.36 PM It really doesn’t take a lot to change the way your bedroom looks. You don’t have to spend so much, when there are plenty of ways to do this without breaking your wallet or incurring so much waste. All you need to have a lot of is a creative imagination, and someone with a lot of crafting skills can help, too!

1) Go with vintage and repurpose. Because a bedroom is such a personal space, you can make do with old furniture that can be repurposed to suit your style and taste. Pick out your mother’s old cupboard, and turn this into a new storage. Fix your old college table and turn this into a small side table next to your bedroom. There should plenty of old furniture you can repurpose, so you don’t have to buy new ones for the bedroom.

2) Paint can do wonders to changing the look of the room, and be sure to use eco-friendly paint, with non-toxic materials for this. It doesn’t smell as bad, and the paint also last as long as traditional types.

3) Change sheets and curtains. This is a quick and easy fix. Since summer is almost over and autumn will start, pick out season-appropriate fabric, made of bamboo or organic material. In fact, it’s great to invest in these, even as they are slightly expensive, since they last longer and bring healthier advantages to your sleeping environment.

4) If you’re planning on getting a new mattress, come up with a plan to get rid of the old one carefully. You can donate this to charity, or contact a recycling company which will help get rid this for you.
