Chevrolet Volt Wins Green Car Vision Award
Who took home the accolades for the 2009 Green Car Vision Award? The Chevrolet Volt!
The Chevy Volt was presented the 2009 Green Car Vision Award by Green Car Journal on Tuesday morning at the Washington Auto Show, which is scheduled to run Wednesday, February 4 through Sunday, February 8 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C..
The Green Car Vision Award was put in place to recognize the best vehicles which are on the road to excellent environmental performance.
This year, competition was fierce with the Min E, Mitsubishi I-Miev and the Honda FCX Clarity among those hoping to take home the big green and hydrogen fuel cell, plug-in hybrid, battery, extended electric and battery electric were out in full force to claim the coveted prize.
Said Ron Cogan, who is editor and publisher of the Green Car Journal and editor of GreenCar.com:
“The Chevy Volt offers a bold and far-reaching approach that will bring an exceptionally fuel-efficient model to consumers at reasonable cost. Besides being a great design, the Volt promises exactly what many consumers are asking for – a car capable of driving on zero emission battery power most of the time at pennies per mile, with over 100 mpg possible on longer journeys when electric power from its range extender engine-generator is needed.”
Personally, I love the Chevy Volt – I love the looks of the automobile and I’m really looking forward to seeing it on the road. Unfortunately we’ve still got a while to wait – the Chevy Volt won’t be available in showrooms until 2010.
