Snowmobikes to Power Times Square on New Year’s Eve

Call it a brainchild by Hollywood legend Liza Minelli but the whole thing does seem to be enticing. To welcome 2009, a vast lighting display is customary but this time around Times Square has an alternative source of energy coming from pedal power. And guess who will be leading it all? Celebrities and personalities led by Liza Minelli.

So if you find yourself in Times Square on December 31. You can contribute and pedal as well to help juice up the display that is customary for this side of town.

“What happens is really cool. Whoever is riding these bikes here… it’s storing energy that on New Year’s Eve, coming into 2009, will light up Times Square,” she said. “Anybody can come down here and pedal and be a part of something that will go on forever.”
