VanCity Managing the Eco-Friendly Greens

For people that live eco-friendly lives, carbon neutrality is a big deal. It shows that a person has a truly eco-friendly lifestyle while at the same time showing the rest of the world that living in an eco-friendly way is very easy to accomplish. One way or another, anyone that is able to brag about an eco-friendly lifestyle is someone that needs to have carbon neutrality under their belt.

In a recent show of stunning eco-friendly movements, two banks have moved into the eco-friendly category by becoming carbon neutral. The first of these two banks was the Vancouver City Savings Credit Union which is a bank located in the city of Vancouver. It was aiming to actually get to a carbon neutral stage by the middle 2010 but was able to achieve full neutrality in April of this year way ahead of schedule.

The second is the Sony Bank, located in Tokyo. The bank has purchased a Green Power Certificate that is good for enough power to be in excess of the amount of energy that the bank generates on a yearly basis. This will allow the bank to save 400 tons of greenhouse gas and in doing so become eco-friendly on a large scale. The bank is also going to be donating a part of the service charges on their higher end accounts to the purchase of credits that will then be given to the government of Japan.
