S&P Global Commodity Insights has confirmed its participation as an Emerald Partner for African Energy Week 2025, the continent’s premier investment and dialogue platform for the energy sector. The event, now in its fifth year, will take place from September 29 to October 3 in Cape Town under the theme Invest in African Energy: Positioning Africa as the Global Energy Champion.
Through its leadership in market transparency and analytics, S&P Global Commodity Insights will play a key role in shaping high-level discussions on Africa’s energy future. Platts, a division of the firm, has already contributed to regional progress by partnering with Nigeria’s Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority to establish the region’s first localized petroleum-product price benchmark, boosting transparency and efficiency across West Africa’s supply chain.
Supporting Africa’s oil, gas and LNG ambitions
The participation comes at a time when upstream producers in Angola, Libya and Algeria are targeting output growth through infrastructure-led exploration. Emerging LNG projects in Senegal, Mauritania, Mozambique and the Republic of Congo are also positioning Africa as a competitive force in the international gas market. Additionally, S&P Global Commodity Insights projects major growth in the LPG sector, with demand expected to rise up to fivefold by 2030 as clean cooking solutions expand.
Earlier this year, the firm joined the African Energy Chamber as a strategic participant, committing to provide world-class data and intelligence for Africa’s energy transformation. This collaboration emphasizes a shared vision of boosting investment, sustainability and energy access across the continent.
Key contributions and workshops at AEW 2025

Dr. Atul Arya, Chief Energy Strategist, will provide insights into global energy trends and data-driven strategies, while Dan Pratt, Head of Upstream Solutions, will discuss the outlook for African upstream markets in 2026.
S&P Global Commodity Insights will also co-host a workshop titled The Dangote Refinery and its Impact on the African Refining Balance, examining how the 650,000 barrel-per-day refinery will shape regional trade flows, competitiveness, and fuel standards.
“African Energy Week provides the perfect platform for advancing transparency and fostering investor confidence,” said Tomas Gerbasio, VP of Commercial and Strategic Engagement at the African Energy Chamber. “S&P Global Commodity Insights plays a vital role in delivering intelligence that supports Africa’s journey toward a sustainable and resilient energy future.”
