HyDeal Ambition Founder and President Thierry Lepercq will play a key role at the MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2025 conference and exhibition in Dakar this December, where the company joins as a Strategic Partner. The platform brings together 30 companies across the hydrogen value chain and is expanding its model into Africa to support large-scale green hydrogen production.
HyDeal Ambition’s African strategy is anchored in its HyDeal Africa partnership with Gaia Energy, targeting competitive green hydrogen output across Morocco and Mauritania for export to Europe. Mauritania in particular is positioned as a future green hydrogen hub, backed by world-class solar and wind resources and geographic proximity to European markets.
Mauritania eyed as green hydrogen hub for African–European energy trade
The platform and Gaia Energy are conducting a joint feasibility study for a subsea hydrogen pipeline connecting Mauritania and Morocco to Spain, forming part of an integrated corridor aligned with the EU’s goal to import 10 million tons of green hydrogen by 2030. The initiative builds on momentum from major Mauritanian renewable projects, including the 30 GW Aman, 10 GW Project Nour and 6.6 GW Megaton Moon developments.
HyDeal Ambition’s vertically integrated model has already taken shape in Spain through HyDeal España, which combines 4.8 GW of solar capacity and 3.3 GW of electrolyzers. Lepercq is expected to share strategies for deploying similar large-scale hydrogen value chains across West Africa, including Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau and Guinea-Conakry, where complementary energy initiatives are progressing.
MSGBC region accelerates renewable and hydrogen ambitions
Conference organizers note that HyDeal’s participation underscores rising momentum behind West Africa’s green hydrogen push. With Mauritania and neighboring countries advancing clean energy plans, HyDeal Ambition’s model and European expertise are set to offer insights on building competitive, export-ready hydrogen infrastructure and commercial frameworks.
The MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2025 event takes place from December 8–10 in Dakar, welcoming industry leaders to explore partnerships and future-focused energy opportunities across the region.
